You can buy brand new gm ford and mopar axles on basically any configuration…I think moser is manufacturing mopar 8-3/4’s again. Not cheap. You can buy a multitude of gm, ford and now mopar axles, various DANA models, all brand new, to your specs Amc jeep has no new assemblies, and parts are disappearing by the day. Amc people can only repair or rebuild used amc axles , or step way up in price for new gm ford dana or mopar assembiles from moser, currie etc. and they are not cheap. Price your axle assembly wisely. Go to moser, currie, whoever, and see what they get for new stuff, you will see no cheap axle alternatives in 2023

Here is a video of it. I had forgot that it was welded up for drag racing including longer wheel studs. I am thinking $600.00 delivered to Kenosha would be an offer that he couldn't refuse. Am I still too low? IMG_7312 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

If you need it, 600 with you carrying it a couple of states should be a bargain. Otherwise you're just a tire kicker mentally stuck in 1970.

If he isn't willing to pay that, he's a fucking idiot.

I like barge’s thoughts on pricing high and letting the buyer work it down to a more touchy feely price. If i want 600, i’d ask 1100. He will feel good paying 900 for it🤣

When it comes to pricing something, my philosophy is that I can always take less if I'm asking too much, but it's pretty well impossible to bounce it if I'm letting it go too cheap.

The video shows the Carrier. It is the later 1 piece and has the strap type U-joint yoke.

Few years back, I had a close friend that was a drivelinw engineer at the Kenosha plant he told me about a quick fieldcheck for a limited slip unit that dated back to the 2 piece unit to determine if good or took a shit. It consisted of a block of 4x4 up against one tire and sheets of waxed paper under the other. The car had to walk over it. When they applied this method to the later 1 piece unit, it couldn't do it. They revised it to a 2x4 and still an fresh unit struggled

Sounds like a good way to test it.

The only other issue they inflicted on themselves when some decision maker came up with the money saving plan to stop using Timken bearings. Warranty issues started lining up.

The continuance of the bearing fiasco was when the mfr rep was called in. Their response was that you're installing the bearings incorrectly. AMC's reply was that ok,you say we've been installing the Timkens incorrectly for 20 years with no failures until we switched to yours. I don't recall how it ended.
