The 72 304…do you know what head casting numbers are? It has a three bolt damper… is it worn out or do you guess it might run? Anyways i’ll take it for 150. But… you might get hired to rebuild it if your interested. So 72 ish 304 is sold. I have you in my payees list. If you are interested in servicing it, let the dialog begin, we can do it in pm messaging, we can do a topic in a forum, I think it would be really fun, it could snowball into two more 304’s if your into it. I can bring you a truckload of parts soon and truck the finished product out, however, whatever, whenever. I need to finish up a 304 or three. Nobody i know of in north or east texas will bother with me and my stupid amc’s anymore. Also i dont need finished complete engines , shortblock assemblies and head assemblies are what i need, in interest of saving you time and work load, no paint or detailing required, i know your busier than you wanna be. Give it some thought and sleep on it…

OK Spudisnski we will work it out. It is just a '72 304 that I know nothing about but will look at the head casting numbers to see what heads are that are on it on it. Assume that the pistons will have to be hammered out and the block will have to be bored and the whole ten yards. I actually have a pair of '70 304 heads that I have invested in to get welded up so those aint free. I also have a pair of swirl port heads that I aint giving away either.

I know your invested in those special heads and i understand. I am not concerned with trying to aquire them, if i had some i wouldnt want to part with them either, they are not exactly easy to find or replace. The 72 heads are not small chamber, i am curious as to what casting number heads are on that, i expect they are large chamber with studded rockers and not particularly rare or desireable. The only difference from later heads is they have studded rockers. I also have a pair of 70 heads, which i got from ACM a couple years ago, but the deck surfaces were very rusty and so i bead blasted them and the pitting was up to about .1” deep in some areas. I oiled them up and kept them, it may be i can get them welded or something. Irregardless of that stuff i am not overly interested in spending a bunch of time effort and cash saving or building one year only small chamber 304 heads when theres so many super cheap late 304 heads almost nobody wants. I got a plenty of those and inyend on using them if not for convenience but also conformity. I’m glad your on board with the whole idea. We already have an excellent “ monster 304 “ topic in the racing section, why not breath some new life into it by documenting and photographing some of this 304 fun? I know your a really busy guy but when you get a chance , maybe pull the heads off that 304 and get a few pics of what we are starting with? You should see the payment for the core in a few days. I’ll leave it at that on this thread to stay out of the way for the sale of the 360 core engines. And thanks again!
