You thinking about it on Casper?

It would be hard for me to justify adding a grand Casper just to see how it would be. It might make more sence to build it in to my 68 AMX if I live long enough to get to it.

Have you looked at the new Holley Sniper? IMO, it's the class of the field for a cheap, simple throttle body setup.

The Sniper looks like a pretty sweet setup.

Well I aint gonna tell ya the usual bullshit. I always start out with " alls ya gotta do is.... I bought a couple 4.0s and both turned out to be shit so my plans are basically in the shitter. I have a six cylinder car, with a 904, so im ahead of you. I figure you havr a a/w trans, so you got that licked. Im thinkin you get a javelin six xmember with mounts and its ready to drop in. Get a painless wiring adaptation harness. Rig a throttle cable, keep the 4.0 serpentine accessories, adapt the p/s hoses fan, alternator wireup,, adapt an exhaust connection, drop the passenger side dual exhaust off, adapt in a jeep fuel pump, add a return line, do whatever for an upper and lower rad hose... rig up a jeep air filter box.... Use the 4.0 starter... should be pretty much there...

Any year 4.0 is good. obd1 is simpler , but obdII is more refined. I like the 2000 and newer because of the overall improvemnts, and highest torque output. I have passed on a couple complete running jeeps for less than the price of anybodies fuel injection kits...could have bought a complete running 2003 4.0 wagoneer for 750 last year.

I want to stay with the 304 in the Jav so, I was wondering what I could use from a 4L to make it work. Seeings how the 4L is multi port I guess it wouldn't be so easy.

Doesn't a 4.0 have more oomph than a stocker 70s 304? Personally, I'm not above springin' $1K for a complete high-tech aftermarket EFI setup, but I wouldn't waste my $$ on a 304. 360 or 401 is a different story. But with a 304, you may as well have a 4.0, IMO.

I don't think so.. I built a 4L stroker (258 crank) for my Comanche way back when and it perform well and did gain low end torque but, it didn't match the feel of a V8. I would have had to loose the air conditioning to put a V8 in it so I went the stroker rout. The 304 in my Javelin just has the little Eddy cam grind, the tiny Holley intake manifold and a 4 bbl from a 290. So compairing apples to oranges, the 304 would be my choice.
