Yaknow, I'm a loser somewhere in the Captain Awesome range, but every oil pressure problem I've ever had in an AMC V-8 I ended up tracing back to the cam bearings. The hunks of camshaft bearing in the oil pan usually give it away. On that note, how do these guys keep ruining their crankshafts? I'm dumb as hell when it comes to engine building, and I haven't lost a (AMC) crank ever in almost 30 years of dicking with these junk ass motors. Not sure why anyone would ever listen to Jim (Hurst390), he's only the most successful racer/builder on the whole damn forum. Oh, and someone buy MC a cream pie and a VHS tape. I'm eager to see that vid.

I'll keep it clean up here. Save the rant for elsewhere.

If you wonder how they can get screwed up it is because dumasses run these things out of oil (in my opinion). I have a 390 crank that is -.020/-0.020 and is gawled all to hell and has to go smaller to be a usable part. After I get it turned again, I will have to get it re-heat treated and straightened. Clevite makes -.030" undersize rod bearings. Not sure on mains but probably no more than -0.20" King makes Main bearings at -0.010, -0.020, -0.30, -0.40, -0.50" I have a set at -0.030 and just got my set of -0.040" but the -.050" are on back order until after the first of the year. King doesn't make rod bearings for AMC that I have found.
