Nostalgia Drags today. We tried to combine a AMC drag day with it as well. Well, the AMC'ers that did show up DID have a great time. Amazing after all of these years to me was the announcer. Before anything was started he went on the PA system to say yea welcome to all of the chevy, ford, and mopar guys. And went on to say welcome to all of the straight axle and nostalgia cars and then he went right in to brag that Milan has the most AMC cars racing than any other race track in the States (he may not know how strong the Kenosha area is). Regardless, he went on to talk about Bill Ketchum in is consistent 8 second Hornet that just ran last week. He specifically said and he was "consistently" running the 8's. Then he said that Bill is running the 9 second Rambler today. He didn't stop. After that he was talking about Steve Cinnaman's daughter winning the burn out contest in a '69 Ambassador. He said, " she blew up the tires!" He said that he thought that it was so cool that a luxury car could do that. Then he went on to say something about Oh yea, there are some fast Gremlin's around too (they all know Stickshifter). I mean, this was better promotion than ANY thing that I have ever heard at a regular AMC event. It was profound... I had my RWB jacket on and I was a little embarrassed to be proud if there is such a thing. Kechum was in the staging lane and couldn't hear any of it so I had to tell him. I was blown away.. years and years of expecting nothing but negative comments about AMC cars and we get a 180 degree turn in front of God and every racer at Milan!!!? Seriously, there was nothing but positive comments for at least 5 minutes. Even some of the fastest cars didn't get that kind of air time. Give credit where credit is due... It is the Ketchum's, the Bies, and Stickshifter who has created this level of respect at Milan. I am just enjoying riding the wave. I will post up some more pictures tomorrow. Tech in was 1/4 mile long. It was a huge event. click on the vid.. Oh and by the way... Stickshifter is ahead in the 10 1/2" tire class by 2 points. There is some contesting going on so, who knows how it will all work out. His last race is this Friday. Of coarse, I will post up the results..

Looks like some pretty good times! I sure hope I can do something car-related in 2014.
