A couple of days ago, a guy came out and bought a intake off of me for his 1980 360 FSJ. He has a Holley 4bbl from another engine he was going to use, but he said "it's leaking out of a gasket on the bottom" He said they couldn't see where from....
I told him it's prolly flooding and coming out of the throttle shafts.... So I asked him, what kind of fuel filter are you running, and he told me the cheapo clean able glass special with the plastic cartridge. I was like yep, get that the fuck off there and clean your carb out.

Accelerator pump diaphragms don’t last with the dreaded blended ethanol /gasoline conspiracy

I've had the black one's harden up. The Greens are good. I wonder what's on my Jav. Bolted that 1850 on in 1994 and haven't touched it since. never a leak, never a stumble. I do run the gay see thru plastic with paper media CRAPA filter tho.

Those look like good ones to me. Those crappy glass tube and pot metal pieces of shit are the problem ones. Glass tube, potmetal screw ends that strip and break off and o rings made out of gasoline degradable “ rubber” . The tiny filter element will plug up in no time. But hey the piece of shit usually fall as apart long before it plugs up. If it’s low enough it will siphon your tank and leak a giant puddle of fuel ready for the first cigarette butt to cause a fiery holocaust.

What's funny is, I never had a swap meet one go bad. I had a Crapa Gold fall apart internally. The "glue" on the filter let go.
Also, these are the better ones with the metal top, some used to have the plastic top.

After I ridded my Car of the Old Glass Tube back in the early 90s, I did recycle it tho. My Dad's 74 258 Cherokee was so rotted out, it became just a yard towing machine. The gas tank was patched up and eventually did nothing but pump rust to the filter and plug it up short time. So on went the glass tube. It'd start to plug, I'd clean it and go. The ol' 1bbl didn't seem to mind it.
