I think #57 needs to move to the top. I'm not sure how long I can handle the current 199, three on the tree set up.

NEJoe's390#2: Done. He just wanted a short block put together. I had trouble with the oil rings on the first piston. I had two of the skinny rings stuck together and ended up with 3 on there is stead of two. Oops, no big deal other than a little pain in the fingers getting one of the rings back off of the piston.. What's wrong with this picture... I get to #6 piston and realize I had one extra oil ring so, I finished putting it together and promptly started taking it apart again. I am sure it was that #1 piston I had the trouble with. Oooh no, I took all 8 back out one at a time and they all had their perspective rings in place. I never knew that I have to start counting rings now to see if they are miss-packed.. 58. JCJeep401: All machined and ready to assemble. 1st Priority!!!

SPARE PARTS!!! Heck, I always have spare parts when I put something back together... :: When I worked for my Dad, back in high-school, he once asked me how many carburators would I have to rebuild before I'd have enough spare parts to build a whole 'nother one... ;D ;D

58. JCJeep401: Block cleaned, threads chased, core plugs, cam bearings and cam installed. Lunati cam .527/.547, 226/234 @ .050" 110. Cloyes Street True Roller timing set. It didn't take much to correct the oil slot to match up with the cam squirt hole. There is just 2 small slots on the front side. I will leave them there. I never have enough cam lube in those little tubes they give you with the cam so, I finish up the job with CRC Moly-Graphite. The little cam card says to use Lunati #301 Break-in Oil additive. The instruction sheet says to use straight 30 weight non-detergent oil so I just ordered 30 weight Lucas Break-in oil and the recommended additive. The crank was so purdy, I had to take a picture of it...

Hey Rick, I understand you have a whole pile of 3-bolt crank-pulleys... if you don't mind, add one to my "tab"...
All I need now is to find a water-pump pulley to match.

It started out as a 3310-2 750cfm. I knocked out the straight leg boosters and installed the down leg boosters. Basically the main body was converted to the original 3310 which was 780 cfm and down leg boosters. The 3310 has been around for a long time. They were factory part numbered carbs for alot of chevies 396's. The new 3310's today i dont think alot of...holley used this model to target the budget 750 cfm crowd. The main bodies are no longer machined to accept a secondary metering block when using a powervalve. Therefore i always look for the older carbs for cores. The baseplate was dissassemble and mounting surface machined for trueness. The shaft bores were reamed and bushings installed, along with replated shafts. New throttle blades and button head low profile screws instead of the standard holley hardware. Since this carb started life as a 4160 i added the secondary metering block to utilize jets and powervalve, basically a 4150 now. A little pin vise work on the metering blocks in the idle and powervalve channels pretty much sums it up. No air bleed work was done on this carb. Pretty much a standard rebuild for the most part with a few mods. Spring loaded needle and seat were used on this because of the nature the jeep will be used for. Lastly the truck avenger vent tube used also to alleviate spillage on the sharp inclines..
