Vizard has a pretty good vid about lightening cranks. If i had a crank balancing machine i think it would be a fun and productive venture.

Sounds good Rick. Funny how extra compression and retarding the cam really smooths out the idle.

You probably know, but MSD rebuilds those Boxes pretty cheap.

Nope didn't know that. This one is pretty old, not sure if it is worth doing but I will check into that.

Nope didn't know that. This one is pretty old, not sure if it is worth doing but I will check into that. I just wanted to let you know before you pitch it in the Can. Uncle Randy was buying junk MSD boxes at the Swap Meet for 20-25 bux, sending them in. Repair, shipping and all was 50-80 tops. Not bad for what was about a $275 box at the time. I sold a junk box to a dude and that's what he did with it as well.

if that's the MSD box I mounted to the engine starting stand before SC397 appropriated it, that box is more than 25 yrs old..

Rod304CJ. Fixing another messed up 304 for a Jeep I had this one come back on me due to low oil pressure. 76. Dan1500 360: Warmed over 360 for a 77 Hornet. Ready to clean and assemble. I just checked the cylinder heads and they measuring 63cc. This will work out nice with the flat top Wiseco pistons with the 8.6cc valve reliefs. Compression ratio works out to 9.79:1. Dam cam bearings anyway. You can read all about it here. Save yourself the guess work in the first two pages and just go to page 3.[/b] theamcforum.com/forum/topic117072_post1032571.html#1032571[/b][/b]

I've only had one AMC show low oil pressure, and it was from a fouled up cam bearing. As in chunks missing. I've seen them with the mains and rods worn all the way to the shells (slight exaggeration) and still hold decent OP.

I had #4 cam bearing walk out on me years back in the AMX chassis car. Same thing, suspiciously low oil pressure but no death noise.
Of course, Bill K. guessed the problem correctly before I tore it down! 😄
