So what are your plans for the hornet? Well you know me, plans seem to change as I go along. However, this is my dream for the Ugly Stinger as of today. Make it factory looking in Big Bad Green with the black SC/360 stripe and hood scoop. It has what is left of a black interior so I will see what I can do with that.. This would be the perfect thing to throw my 397 engine into fueled by E85 via EFI. Not a hundred percent sure on transmission but I have that expensive 500A that I should put in it.. We will see, I love driving a stick car...

You talked me in to it.. It will get the Richmond 5 speed. Brought it home last Thursday and overall very happy with my purchase. Needs some parts including a front valance, windshield, and front springs for starters. I think I know how the big dent got in the side of it. At least it is no longer a mid engine, rear transmission car. IMG_6136 by Rick Jones, on Flickr The floor is crazy clean but there are rust holes in the rear quarters and doors. Looks like it has the "one size fits all" floor shifter hole. Mine was raced and had a hacked floor shift hole and it had a "quick trans bolt access" cut out in the trans tunnel..

Spent about a day and a half polishing a turd so now it looks like a polished turd. Don't care. It is good enough for me and will be respected more for what it is than what it could be. Chuck called me about the 360 stroker block and the mains are all fkd up because I didn't have any and matched them up with ones that I had that were close. Not close enough so I will try one more set of main caps from another engine but will take another block just incase. This is one of the differences between Chuck and any other Machinist. He will not do machining on something up that is not right. IMG_6151 by Rick Jones, on Flickr I pin striped a SC360 stripe the best that I could then rattle canned painted in between the stripes to make it look somewhat like a SC360 stripe. A few letters from the Hobby Shop and it looks close. I think the whole stripe cost me like 12 bux and 4 hours worth the time. Click on it to see a little video IMG_6150 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

I have a mystery 360 block out in my shop that I have no clue where it came from. Apparently I killed that brain cell. If you want to drive out here and get it, you can have it.

Thanks and I really appreciate that but I have a stack of 360's to choose from to build something out of.

I pulled all the under hood wiring and brake lines out to get ready to paint the engine bay. Now the question is do I paint it the color that I want it to be, or just shoot it with the golden slime and call it a day. In the theme of Spud's Road Kill Javelin I am inclined to slime it and call it a day. Fkn Bristow is actually going to sell a front valance to me which is a lucky find for me. Fitted up the new gas tank which is 1 1/2" taller than the original one but I am going to go with it.. I will just shoot it black so it is not so in your face. Parts - Ordered a new windshield at $175. plus tax. Ordered new rotors but I can't find calipers anywhere and no one has a brake booster either. Pulled a set of main caps out of a 304 and Chuck is able to make those work and was honing them to size yesterday. IMG_6155 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

I have new rotors and good used calipers that came off my 74.
I would put a manual master on it. I have a used one of those too.
Paint the engine bay golden slime.

Just for my own curiosity, did the Hornet with manual brakes use the 2 reinforcement brackets to the firewall like the later Spirit/Concord/Eagle?

Rick, I have an extra front valance, inner and outer. I just have to decide if I am going to remove or fix the banged up one on my car and install the NOS parts I have saved for it...
I just saw Jeff has got one for you..

Mine didn't have those because they had power rakes so I don't know if they used those stud brackets or not.
