I notice since only 5 AMCers in the entire World Drag Race, the Drag Racing section on gAyMC, with the exception of the Aussie Gremlin guy, is solely a Tech section.

I notice you dont see cars more than 20 years old on the road at all and most are less than 10. I also notice a lot of the cars at the drag races are new streetcars and 3/4 ton diesel trucks. Amcs? Are you joking?😆 most are atoms, a few exist in backyards and garages, its uncommon to see one that even runs let alone drive. Race? Omg batman holy shit😂

You need to go to events like GAD or the AMC Races to see them. There are a few at my local track but not many.

Isn't GAD letting Chevy's and stuff in, cause they can't even get enough cars to have an event?

Isn't GAD letting Chevy's and stuff in, cause they can't even get enough cars to have an event? Mike is letting his Buddys with stick shift off-brand cars join in on one particular class. I don't think it is because he can't get enough AMC cars but, If you would bring a AMC car or two of your own I am sure that it would help lower the cost.

For the past few years, I keep seeing him cancel it due to not enough support in one way or another. Then it gets saved....
I only have one AMC, no truck, trailer and doubt the car can make 4 hrs of driving. Plus it's always on a day, I can't get away.

But hell, if half the guys who are doing 450HP builds over on gAyMC would show up, He wouldn't have any problems and never have to possibly cancel. All these guy build Cars and don't race. Mine is stock and have seen more track time than most of them combined.
So why build for all this power, if you're not going to race anywhere and post about it? They can sure post about 450HP+ all the time. Might as well have a stock 304 in it.
If they had a "I want 450 HP+" section over there, it would boom.

Case of the old “ be careful what you ask for” scenario. I have a race fuel strip only 77 hornet. I have a pump gas 401 4 speed javelin that can run 11.0,and is about as radical a car i can tolerate on the street, but currently is not tagged...and a 232 six auto javelin that i can drive anywhere anytime...Sure i have a ( race only)car that will run 10.7s. Not like its good for anything else now. And i have a car that i can drive on the street. Not that it will outrun anything at all. Do i have bragging rights for either car? Not too much. Its not impossible to have the best of both worlds. I dont have that. I dont think most guys do. I just have my resources spread way to thin with three old amcs. I still have a chevy s/10 to maintain as a daily driver. Hindsight being 20/20 i think a 9.5-1 pump gas 401 with a hydraulic roller, air gap or torker and near stock heads could do the 450 hp pretty easy. And not be a hassle to drive. Might be painfull to keep fed, but its not gonna be a true daily car. Maybe a fun weekend car. Would it make a 2000 mile round trip to gad? Sure. Not impossible at all. Stock 304? Sure why not. Remember ricks friend with the turbo 304 amx? Pretty sure it would run the number. I bet there are a lot of folk out there, me included, that would enjoy gad, but its a bit inconvenient. I also think that it gets harder ( financially and practically)every year,to maintain an old car to the higher level it takes to actually RACE it, so i have empathy to those who don’t. “Why build for power”? Is a solid question with various answers. No good ones. Its tough enough to have a car that is actually useable let alone raceable on the average mans “ resource “ level. The amc forum is a venue dominated by peoples need to cater to their ego.

You're known for racing your Car, Spud. I've seen people new to me make the comment about your Hornet racing.
My point is, all these people that post about building shit need to step up and do something. But fuck, if the guy who hasn't touched his Car in 24 years has to, that's nothing new. I was always the guy at the Street Races with the stock POS racing, while the "heavy hitters" sat and talked. That's all kinds of backwards IMO. WTF did they build it for?
If I wasn't a failure at life and had a real job, real car, truck, trailer and what not, I'd be there. The local DQ is a pretty big waste for these huge builds, and even restos.
and sorry, not sorry, I'd want to trailer my shitty looking, slow ass Faglin to C-bus. I don't need to call a tow company if something gives out and have em bend and rip sections out of my frame, like they did the Mr. Clowns car.

and in my book, they don't even have to go to GAD. I've just been reading posts on there for decades about want to beat Mustangs and don't even see any results from this "build" No street racing vids, not even a local T&T night at the track.
I asked about GAD, cause it's sure seems to have been having trouble over the past few years. The Hollywood Knights put on a local Rental, limit it to 100 Cars, $40 gets your car and a passenger in, $5 to watch and they make money and donate it to charity.

You don't need to have a fast car to have fun at the track, I've proven that with my car.

and as said, the Knights have to limit the Car count, since they want people to get passes. Cause Ya know, all those Chevy and Ford guys the AMCers and Mopars guys always rip on, actually show up to race.
I just saw Chevy guys getting slammed again today, by a bunch of NRFs.

You don't need to have a fast car to have fun at the track, I've proven that with my car. The hard part is getting all of these guys who talk about their big dream builds to actually build something and take it to the track.

You don't need to have a fast car to have fun at the track, I've proven that with my car. I used to race my GMs every week. Jimmy raced 2-3 times a week, with an AMC and didn't have half the Car most of the posters on that forum do. He had less cash in his whole car, than they sink into one of their Take 6 Part 17 builds.

You don't need to have a fast car to have fun at the track, I've proven that with my car. You beat me to that point. Its great to go out and have fun with likeminded folks. Its more trouble than postingbullshit on some website, but you get a hell of a lot more out of it. Ive driven my 232 jav to the track and raced it. Just for fun. And it was fun. Bracket racing is the order of the day and it works fine. I get what your saying capn, its all true enough. But only one guy gets to be the fastest. The rest of us are just playing the game. And it dont matter where you start, you gotta try it andsee. I like making them run better ... and hopefully faster. Thats what im in it for. If its a pos 100 hp 232 i dont care. Its a start. I just want to have fun and see what i can do with it. Life is short. You can make your own history with your own piece of shit. To me thats more fun
