I know that it never existed but I am going to make mine up to be what could have been. This concept goes along with the "10 Special Rebel Machine Race Prepared Cars" theme. I am sure that this is what a heater blower motor delete plate would have looked like. I made it by cutting the top of the housing off just past the gussets. Then I epoxied a sheet of plexiglass in, a little sanding here and there and, sprayed it with hammer tone gray.

Geeze, thanks guys.. My thing is it had to look like a AMC dual quad air cleaner as if it came out of the factory that way. Not a modified chevy, mopar or whatever. It is a stupid thing but, I have spent way more time thinking about this thing than I should have. It is looking pretty cool so far but, I won't be able to chrome plate the top. It is going to take some bondo to make it like I want it. That is OK though, painted black with my special air cleaner decal on it, it will look good.

They make a high temp filler, if you want to try some powder coating on it.

The late air cleaners are pretty easy to find. I buy them at swap meets for $20.00. To make the tub look correct (to me anyway) I wanted to be able to use the existing flange for the second snorkle. I didn't want to try to form that area besides, I need more tub to work with anyway. So, I left the original side and figured where I had to cut the second tub so that it was symetrical. Then I put little cuts at the curved area of the first one and straightened it out where it needed it. I cut the second one the same way, opposite of coarse. This was all based on the fact that I wanted the original small diameter top. Figuring out the length was the issue. I looked forever to find just the right oval air cleaner to fit but they don't exist. they are either 8" wide or 12" wide. I needed 10. Finally, I figured out that if I just squished a 14" round air cleaner oval it would work out pretty good. I just calculated the circumference of the 14" diameter and recalculed that in to a 10" oval to figure out the length. I had to cut the bottom out and make a new one (out of a metal cabinet shelf) to fit up to the Carters. How many hours? No, it is how many days..

Thanks! I might get some of that and try it. In the mean time I ordered some "liquid Steel" and the cleaner to go with it that is supposed to be good for high heat and powdercoating. It should do something for eighty bux..

Well, here is $80.00 worth the liquid steel. Not overly impressed so far. I was hoping that the Galvax actually look like gavanizing. It don't, it looks like gray primer.. I puttied up the air cleaner top. The stuff is weird to work with. It doesn't like to be put on too thick. We will see how it goes tomorrow. I did order some of the chrome plastic wrap. We might see how that works as well.
