OK so, my shop roof has leaked for umteen years now... Gee, I wonder why. It is a steel roof that is only um 30 years old. Hell, with the wind we have in Kansasmichigan here, it has sandblasted all of the paint off of the west side. Combine that with the 3 stupid fiberglass "light" panels that I thought was the shit when I put them in (which I have now replaced with steel) and you have a drywall'd ceiling that needs torn out. OH, and not to mention that the entrance doors are wood and 30 years old as well. The paint is the only thing that is holding them together. Oh, I have all new doors ready to install mind you but, I can't put them up until I get the ceiling re-done. I can't get the ceiling re-done until I get the roof fixed. Did I mention that it is steel and rusted? Oh yea, I am up there with a wire wheel on my grinder cleaning the rust off so that I can brush paint vinyl etching primer and DP48 on it BEFORE I spend my lifetime on coating it with this rubberized coating. First I tried a roller and that sucked and took forever now, I am putting the second coat on with my undercoating gun. This totally sucks but I know from past experience that if I was to hire it out I would be totally disappointed.

My house was built in 1853... It is perpetual maintainence on that one as well. Built like a barn with hand hewed beams, pegs and all of that it has made it through a few tornado storms though... One time the wind blew the top part of my block chimminy (that I built) from the two story part almost threw the roof of the single story part. Yea, the wood perlins under the fiberglass was toasted but the rest of the structure is ok. It is a pole barn structure that I built myself of coarse. Pisses me off though, when I build something I want to last forever with zero maintainence.

Dang Rick, now I'm even more impressed... I never would have thought your place was that old. Heck, now I feel silly for referring to my house as "old", since its 50 years younger than yours... ;D

Welp, I posted this up in the "what ever pisses you off" section because I will be spending my entire fkn summer bringing my neglected shop up to some form of presentable mess. So here we go again with all of the pictures and shit. Hey, tell me if you guys like really don't care or if you would just like me to shut the hell up or what ever.. I really don't have to post this stuff up if you are totally not interested.. Ok.. here is where I want to put a 4 post lift basically so that I can stack the SC/360 on top of the SC/Rambler. I figure $2000.00 for a lift is way cheaper than adding on a bay. Lots of measurements and I decide that I need to move the door to the paint room over 16". Oh of fkn coarse I had to move the wiring over too and guess what.. one wire wasn't gong to make it resulting in a duplex in the paint room just so that I could cut, feed through the wall studs and re-attach the wires. Took me all last week end (less the 6 hours that I worked on the local newsletter) to get the wall framed back in good enough to hold a door up. No, there are no headers or cripples and all of that true carpenter shit but it aint going to fall down either. Got some drywall put up tonight... hides everything! The goal is to do one wall at a time due to me having to move the cars and junk around etc. Still have half the roof to to the body work on and coat. Eventually, I have to tear down the shit drywall on the ceiling. Thinking about going the extra dollar and just putting up painted steel. Fire proof and all of that. The bottom line is that I built this shop in about 1980 and it doesn't owe me a thing.. I need to re-invest to bring it up to snuff. Now that I am back on the payroll again it is time to "make hay while the sun shines!" The bitch of it is, I am not getting engines done for people so I am trying to do like 8 things at once and I only have the week ends and about 5 hours every night to work on important stuff. Well so far I am still ahead of Chuck (the machinist) so, I guess I am doing OK.

If i ever meet the guy that built the house I'm in right now I'd kick him as hard as I could right in the Fucking balls, he didnt put any lights in the rooms, you have to use lamps, and the outlets are operated by the light switches that are behind the doors, I bought it as an investment, hope the market turns around soon.

""Sure wish I was closer Rick, this kinda shit is right up my alley... I'd be there with a hammer every week-end until it's done."" Me too my man!.. I don't hate doing it, I just hate doing it because I have to. Finishing drywall sucks though. I would rather weld a quarter panel on or something. 5 panel wood door... The door is a 30 incher from the house. You can't hardly buy a 5 panel any more so I keep it cuz that is the type of guy that I am. Anyway, the lockset was screwed up and didn't work. I took it apart with one screw and found that a spring was broke. I actually found a spring that would work so I put it back together after multiple tries to get the internals set just right. Looked at the out side and it was patented in 1868. Kinda cool.. Engineers knew their shit back then. The only reason it failed after several life times is because of one part that has a expected lifetime. Nowadaze, I am lucky to get 6 years out of a lockset..
