Now i know my bfg radial tires are old, maybe not so grippy . But this 304 is making a mess of the right rear tire. It does have some torque.

I have two Chryco style flexplates with a 1" X 2-1/2" flat bar counterweight. I think they are for 304.

The eternal javelin is an eternal project. I painted that chinese flywheel waaaay to nice and spoiled my luck. Oh well the scrapheap needs it now. Thanks a lot chang ki check. You bastard. I guess while im breaking my back under there i will drop the trans pan and back off the main pressure a little... maybe soften the shifts a little. She is chirping the tires pretty aggressively with the street/ strip shift tune.

Lol i left a scalding reveiw of the pioneer amc flexplate and summit accepted it. Just to back up the suckiness, i bought a pioneer flexplate for the 232 six banger a few years back and it had starter noise too. And it had some shake too. Thats pretty sucky seeing how its supposed to be zero balance. So to be fair(?) i knew this 304 flexplate was probably gonna suck. But it far exceeded my expectations to say the least😆

Even my wore out 304 will eat the tire alive. They are a strong little motor down low. Great cruiser and tire burning fun mill. It'll even spin with no power braking with the slappers.
I put the slappers on, cause my springs suck and I wrapped them up so bad at the track, I snapped a shock eye off.

I just checked the reviews. What sucks is, they post the reviews for a SBC plate under the AMC plate. We need to know about the AMC plate. Most won't catch most are refering to it working fine on a SBC, just about anything works fine on them. You could make one out of wood and it would be ok. lol

Ok so i went nuts and bought the 650 avs-2 eddy carb. I also have a 625 performer( afb) eddy carb. Currently running the avs-2 and it does run good. After i get the bugs worked out i can play with different carbs. I have a bunch of different carbs i can try. I wish i would have thought to weld in a bung for an o2 sensor for a a/f ratio gauge. Problem with that is it works best with some kind of digital datalogging for accurate analysis. Fresh outa that shit. Also have a 750 performer. A couple different holleys. 390, 600, 750 dp, 830 dp.

Yeah i’m getting old and the power steering and a/c seemed like a practical idea. Still putting the a/c system together. The car had column shift, i took that out and put in a hurst quarterstick and a shift console. Old six cylinder throttle cable and torqueflite throttle linkage got retired for new lokar cable linkages. Power steering gear was a amc case with ws-6 trans am guts. The distributer cap is a msd cap adapt kit for a delco distributer. The ignition is an old allison optical trigger points replacement with a msd ss coil. And thats the stock 79 304 i got from rick jones under there, sporty new chrysler blue paint. The transmission is about to get yanked out again so i can swap out the shitty pioneer chinese flexplate for a genuine amc unit that reb is sending me.

Well im not sure of the color. Its pretty close to the original amc paint color,( luck or random chance, it looked good and i picked it up at summit.) its a chrysler color. I saved a can so i can remember what it is, i can get a photo later. I kind of regret painting everything, cuz now im in the screw up all the detailing phase. Kind of a waste of time. But then again i will be messing with this forever, since it is my eternal javelin project. So the headers by spud topic has crossed into the spuds eternal javelin topic. Another word on paint, i was kind of careless, and since this thing started and idled so well, i didnt set the timing right away. It was quite retarded ( the timing; not my mind) and i noticed it was burning and blistering my carefully painted headers. So as a final word, set your timing quick and save the finish on your headers. Crap!😆 more wasted time. Shoulda just slapped the old hedmans on. I got the breather from smileys racing, they are a local company who sells to the dirt track crowd. I think its generic chicom shit. I also got the air filter there, its a sure seal brand. Light spun aluminum with o ring seal at the carb flange. The filter element itself is a chicom oil the cotton type. 14x3, which sux becuz theres only like a 1” gap between the base and top for air to pass through. I needed that short filter to run a 1” spacer under the carb on my other javelin, so i guess that is a fuckup too. I need to get a 14x4 element. So hood heigth limits the room for intake, carb spacer and air cleaner fun. I have a fix but it looks kinda dumb. I can install longer studs and aluminum spacers between the hood and hood hinges. It opens the sides and rear of hood up for cooler air and air cleaner clearance. I have also considered a trans am shaker hood scoop arrangement. I have wanted to try this forever but never have. Still kind of limits the clearance issue tho. I have also considered a bolt on cowl induction type scoop. I have a universal one already. It just doesnt fit the javelin hood due to the shape of those reverse scoop troughs stamped into it. I need some clearance and some cooler air but havent decided how to get it. This hood is not so good and i wont mind hacking it. Just want it to not look hillbilly or hastily hacked. Since its in my line of sight when i drive. Just to really blow my cover i have always wanted a cuda shaker. It mimics the javelin grill some, and i think it would be the all time cool as shit hoodscoop/ cold air dealio for a javelin. But those are worth more than the whole car. The trans am shaker is easy money, and i can get it all as new chicom repop shit.... but as a final flagellation in spud mental masterbation... i really need clearance for a 1 inch carb spacer. And that kind of fucks over the shaker hood idea. So stuck in indecision mode again. Eternal mental condition for me.
